After talks of these two getting in the ring together back in January, it seems that Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis share mutual interest in a bout. With Garcia withdrawing from his July 9th fight with Javier Fortuna, the door is open for a matchup with Tank to take place this fall.
Garcia tweeted on Wednesday evening “This is the only fight that I want, would love to make this happen this year”. While this could make for a much bigger fight later on down the road, Garcia seems to be searching for the payday he can get now.
Opposite the Garcia side we heard response from Leonard Ellerbe of Mayweather Promotions. Ellerbe represents Davis and stated they were trying to make the Ryan Garcia fight back in March. With Davis fresh off an 11th round TKO of Mario Barrios, it may be time to strike while the iron is hot.
Tank Davis the three-division champion would be happy to fight Garcia at lightweight. Unfortunately, Garcia has not had the best of luck getting the fights requested from Golden Boy. It will be interesting to see when we get to see this fight. Even if not soon, it will certainly happen one day.
Davis would have to be favored considerably in a fight anytime soon. I imagine it is rather competitive but I would be siding with him rather confidently. Do you take put any money Garcia as an underdog in this bout?
